You really do have to hold out for a clean bill on the debt limit. The Speaker and his gang do not want to risk default for some hairball ideas. Get on the phone to your Wall St. buddies and have them start squeezing the Republicans, after all they have more to lose than anyone else.
When it comes to cutting Defense, the easiest way would be to end your shitty little war in Afghanistan. Also bring ALL the troops home from Iraq earlier than year end. The Iraqis are big boys, they can screw up their country on their own.
