You probably have your speech all neatly written up by now, but I still hope you will present the most progressive and liberal budget imaginable. Everyone knows you will concede a huge amount to the Republicans so you should start with some slack.
Take Social Security off the table. It is stable for a good many years so we can wait until we get rid of the lunatics in Congress.
We know you want to cut Medicare/Medicaid, but please, please never say the word cut. Propose all manner of fixes and patches but let the Republicans be the only ones who say the word CUT. Give a fellow Democrats a means to pound the Republicans into the ground like a tent peg.
And this would be a great time to declare and end to your shitty little war in Afghanistan. The money saved can be put to much better uses.
