Dear Mr. President

June 29, 2011

I remember back in 2008 when you ran for office as a Democrat. When did you decide to switch parties? I know you have not announced it but how else do you explain your willingness to slash Medicare when the public is strongly opposed to that. Why would you give up the tool that will allow you to crush the Republican party if you weren't already a member? And your request to extend the SSI tax reduction is absolutely ridiculous. It does not help the economy but it does weaken the most successful government program, ever. And it has nothing to do with deficit, which most Americans really don't care much about. They do care about their retirement and don't like watching self-important people try to steal it from them by deceitful means.

Out here in the real world, most Americans would prefer if you took Medicare/Medicaid and Social Security off the table and replaced those proposed cuts with an equal or greater amount in Defense cuts. You know, like cutting your shitty little war in Afghanistan. Remember, we are the ones you want to vote for you in 2012. Don't think any Republicans will ever do so.

Dear Mr. President

June 28, 2011

You told Rep Waxman that your words carry weight. How about you use some of that weight to take Medicare/Medicaid and Social Security off the negotiating table. If the evil GOP won't give you tax increases, you won't destroy the safety net. Perhaps even better, to replace the Medicare/Medicaid and Social Security cuts, you can offer up 2 times the amount in Defense cuts. How could they refuse a chance to double their savings? And you could end your shitty little war in Afghanistan. too.

Mr. President there are lots of good places to cut, not that cuts are a good idea in this economy. One thing you shouldn't do is take those cuts out of the hides of the people you want to vote for you in 2012. You seem to think we will forget.

Dear Mr. President

June 26, 2011

It appears that in your concentration on your shitty little war in Afghanistan you have overlooked the end of George W's shitty little war in Iraq. The Iraqis really do not want us there and some have resumed attacking the troops. The rest of the country isn't about to stop them. This would be a good time to announce an early withdrawal of the remaining troops. By hanging on to the absolute end you merely insure that more US troops will die in vain. Their blood will be on your hands because their deaths serve no purpose. Isn't it time you acted like a leader instead of a follower?

Friday, June 24, 2011

Dear Mr President

June 24, 2011

Now that mini Leader Cantor has walked out of the budget negotiations, this is a good time for you to reset things by pulling all your Medicare/Medicaid cuts off the table. No good Democrat should ever agree to those, let the Republicans kill themselves on that sword. And for God's sake, get your people out there condemning the Republicans for not negotiating in good faith and trying to destroy the country and its credit. We don't want a bipartisn solution, we want a president who will fight, kick ass and make Republicans grovel.

And while you are at it, tell us how you have changed your mind about your shitty little war and you will bring all the troops home by the end of the year. Iraq, too.

PS. To get ready for the Great Republican Default, have Sec. Geithner suspend payment of Congressional salaries. It's about time he did something useful.

Thursday, June 23, 2011

Dear Mr President

June 23, 2011

I see that Little Eric Cantor has ended talks about the debt limit and said that you and the Great Orange Boehner have to come to a decision on this. Obviously there is only one possible choice, a clean debt bill. And the Great Orange Speaker better act quickly while you can still influence some Democrats to vote with him for passage.

Remember, a clean bill for the limit because as long as you continue your shitty little war in Afghanistan you don't need distractions. No warlord does.

Wednesday, June 22, 2011

Dear Mr President

June 22, 2011

Can being a warlord really be so much fun that you need to leave so many good Americans in harms way for no good reason? Just think sir, of all the people who will be wounded, maimed and die because you were not man enough to say 10 years is too much and anymore is just plain folly.

Your shitty little war in Afghanistan is wrong and the goal you seek is a chimera. You can still change your mind and declare your goal of 10,000 troops withdrawn to be a monthly goal. That would be what a real American president would do. The waste of lives and treasure will damage this country deeply and you are the only one who can accept the blame for this. Shame on you for choosing this course.

Tuesday, June 21, 2011

Dear Mr. President

June 21, 2011

Well, you have probably made your decision on how many lives you will save by bringing them home and how many you will condemn to death by continuing their presence in your shitty little war in Afghanistan. Now you are just polishing up that turd so we will buy it. Trouble is, we can't afford it no matter how much polish you put on it. If, after you bring the first 3000 troops home, you continue to bring home 3000 or more each month until only Karzai of the Afghans is left, that will be good.

Mr. President, you are not a warlord. And you don't get to be a warlord by practicing with your shitty little war. And you can't run the shitty little war by listening to your generals. After 10 years they have made it clear they can't run a war either.

Save lives. Save money. Bring them all home now.

Sunday, June 19, 2011

Dear Mr. President

June 19, 2011

I hope this Fathers Day you will be listening to those who recommend a rapid troop withdrawal from your shitty little war. I know you are proud of your shitty little war and fancy yourself a great warlord, but if you are in any way a true christian, today would be a good day to think about bringing back all those fathers, sons and daughters from harms way. And don't overlook the Forgotten Ones in Iraq.

Al-Qaeda has been reduced to a small gang of thugs better handled by police efforts. And the Taliban is an Afghan problem, let Karzai of the Afghans deal with them.

Thursday, June 16, 2011

Dear Mr President

June 16, 2011

It was nice of General Petraeus to give you options for your shitty little war in Afghanistan. Now is the time for you to give him the only answer that will get you re-elected in 2012. Get our army out of that shithole as quickly as logistically possible. We can not afford to waste more lives and money on a fool's errand. And don't forget the sacrificial lambs you left in Iraq. Get them out, too.

You are not an emperor and we are not an empire. It is time this country grew up and stopped wasting money pretending to be something we aren't.

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

Dear Mr. President

June 15, 2011

I really wish you had the intelligence and courage to be the first Democratic president since Woodrow Wilson to end a war without trying to extend The Great American Empire. With your JCS Chairman and others saying we will never leave you shitty little war in Afghanistan, I guess they have you buffaloed with their piles of statistics and brave words. The unanswered question is how do you complete the mission in a war that has no mission? A war whose only purpose is to kill Americans and drain the Treasury.

Robert MacNamara realized that Viet Nam was a mistake in the sixties but did not publicly admit that until many years later. Is this what we can expect from you? Thirty years on you making an apology to all the people needlessly slaughtered because you had not the courage or wit to end your shitty little war.

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

Dear Mr. President

June 14, 2011

Congratulations! Eight US soldiers killed so far this month, in Iraq. Their useless deaths are the result of you having neither the wit nor the will to get out of that sand trap. Add them together with the useless deaths coming from your shitty little war in Afghanistan and you will have a lot of blood on your hands when you are done. If only you could truly justify this foolish waste to the families and the country that are paying the price of your belief that you are a great warlord who will succeed and impress the Republicans.

Mr. President as long as you are black you will never impress the Republicans.

Dear Mr. President

June 11, 2011

The idea that the private sector will create jobs when there is no demand for the goods and services those jobs will provide is a chimera that only a Republican could love. No business man is going to risk losing his business to hire people he does not need. And you are mistaken about the government, it does create jobs. And when those people cash their paychecks they create the demand that businesses need. Something that all those tax cuts can not do.

Another thing that creates jobs is ending your shitty little war in Afghanistan and bringing ALL the troops home including those you left to die in Iraq. You will then have lots of money to spend on US nation building and creating jobs and demand.

Friday, June 10, 2011

Dear Mr. President

June 10, 2011

I read about your idea for another trimming of the payroll tax. That is a brilliant idea if you are a Republican looking to damage Social Security. For a Democrat it is one mother of a dumb idea. The supply side in this economy does not need any more boosting. Ask most businessmen and they will tell you what they need is demand for their products and demand comes from people with jobs and money to spend. Without jobs you will have a lot of people saying why should we reelect Obama. True you might get some of those people if you declared an end to your shitty little war in Afghanistan and told Leon Panetta that we will not keep US troops in Iraq after December. But their numbers won't be nearly enough to rescue you from your own deficit folly.

All this is a long winded way of saying you need to put forward jobs plans of every size and shape except as tax cuts. See, that's not too hard.

Wednesday, June 8, 2011

Dear Mr President

June 8, 2011

I heard that when Sen Reid asked for a higher dollar amount than you did, you criticized him for doing so. DUMB MOVE. This close to the election Republicans always cut too much and Democrats just want to do what is best for their fellow citizens. As it was for a jobs program he was doing you a favor. The deficit is a Republican chimera and you deserve a few tut-tuts for buying into it.

You need to put forth any and every jobs program you can, no matter how big or small or liberal it may be. The Republicans won't let you have any of them but you need to be seen as making the effort, you know, trying. And just to keep the Republicans on their toes, don't forget to declare an end to your sitty little war in Afghanistan and bring all the troops home this year. Mr Karzai will understand.

Monday, June 6, 2011

Dear Mr. President

June 6, 2011

As your National Security Council debates how to end your shitty little war in Afghanistan, I hope you will not defer to your military commanders. The purpose of the military is to waste as many lives and money as possible for the greater glory of their leaders. One of your prime functions is to keep them on a short leash, obedient to you. You and the country will be better off if you drawdown the troops as quickly as possible to end this shitty little war. Karzai of the Afghans has stolen more than enough US aid to buy all the Blackwater bully boys he wants. And don't forget to bring home the leftover 50,000 in Iraq. They don't want us and we don't belong there.

Better yet, close all US overseas bases and bring all the troops home. We are not an empire.

Sunday, June 5, 2011

Dear Mr. President

June 5, 2011

Secretary Gates says that we should not withdraw troops from Afghanistan and we should continue to waste good lives and money for no good reason. Need I remind you that Bob Gates is a long term Republican. For all the good service he may have given you, with an election approaching he probably would not hesitate to trip you up with bad advice. The best way to avoid the worst of what he might do is to end your shitty little war in Afghanistan now. I doubt even John Kerry could tell you how you ask someone to be the last person to die for a mistake.

Saturday, June 4, 2011

Dear Mr. President

June 4, 2011

Various Republicans have recently stated that they will willingly destroy the economy of the United States if you don't give them everything they want in the budget. Your first sign they were not serious about negotiating should have been when they took tax increases off the table. This would be a very good time to tell the GOP that all budget negotiations will cease until they pass a clean debt limit bill. And don't forget the PR blitz to inform the public of Republican efforts to damage out country for cheap political points. You said you were a good negotiator, now is the time to prove that you won't always give away the store.

And as long as you are doing what is right, how about ending your shitty little war in Afghanistan. It kills too many Americans for no good reason and it costs too much. Retire those people who want us to stay and put your own people in place, finally.
